And the Winning Name is..............

Thanks for everyone's entries in naming Grandma's new horse. They were ALL good suggestions and it was tough to decide but the winning name has been chosen. The child that submitted it is...........EASTON!
Congratulations Easton!! Your prize is already in the mail and should arrive at your house this week. Everyone else, Thanks for sending in your choices--you made it hard to pick a name for Showa's new friend. There were several names that we really liked. But.....the winning name that Grandpa and I chose is.......COWBOY. It really fits him and all the ladies (the other horses that board with him at the Brough's) seem to like it. One girl horse named Shiloh has really taken to Cowboy and they love to spend time over the fence nibbling on each other. We took four horses for a trail ride on Saturday and we couldn't keep Shiloh and Cowboy apart. They wanted to ride behind or beside each other the whole afternoon. I think it might be because Shiloh is also a paint horse so they think they gotta stick together--the old saying about birds of a feather flock together fits these two! Anyway, thanks again for entering the contest and again meet Cowboy! Grandma sure is enjoying having him in the family!
PS. Uncle Jared is mad because he wanted to name his new colt Cowboy. You snooze, you loose around here! Sorry Jared!

Showa Has a New Friend!

Showa was feeling a little lonely without her friends from Ioka (Gunn, Bonez, Hershey, Lefty, and Sioux)so Grandpa decided he needed to buy her a friend. Meet her new friend......it's a boy. He is a "paint" horse. (That's a horse with different colors.) He has one brown eye and one blue eye. He is 8 years old and came from a ranch in Idaho. He is very nice and likes kids. We want to give him a new name so put on your thinking caps and get your suggestions in to Grandma by Sunday, April 25th. Then Grandpa and I will decide on the winning name and the winner will receive a prize in the mail!! The contest will end at midnight (MST) Sunday, April 25th and the winner will be announced on Monday, April 26th. Hurry and make your suggestions!!

And the winner is.........PAISLEY ANN!!! Her choice for a name was Puffy Pickelicious Bearenstein Salamandar. Congratulations Paisley. Grandma will get your prize in the mail to you. Thanks for all your enteries and name suggestions. They were all good and John had to think long and hard about the winning name. By the way, Puffy Pickleicious now lives at Syracuse Junior High in the Science Class of Doug Sill. They kids are treating him well and he is reported to be VERY happy there! Glad he has a good home and is no longer living in the window well of my office.

We have a Guest!

Hi guys! This morning while Grandma was working on her computer, she saw this little thing moving around in the window well outside my office. Not sure what it is but Grandpa is going to call a friend that knows about lizards and ask him. Soooooo, in the meantime, I thought we could have a contest to name it! Not sure what the prize is but you give a name suggestion and if it is picked (by Uncle John) Grandma will send you a prize in the mail. Hurry and get your suggestions in as the contest will end Sunday, September 20th at midnight (MST for you Japan peoples!). Anyway, have fun and make a suggestion or two. Congratulations to Adyson for guessing the closest birthdate and gender of Grandma's latest and last calf born this year! She guessed a girl born on May 18th. The calf was a girl born May 23rd. That's pretty late for a calf to be born. We're glad the calf is here and doing well.

Paisley won the name suggestion--she suggested "Stella". So, Stella it is. Thanks Puff for a great suggestion.
Grandma will keep everyone posted on "Stella's" growth progress and when she gets on the truck to go over to Piance Creek this summer to be with her other cow friends. Maybe we'll do another contest for something else. I had fun!
