Child Labor

Dad has found many uses for his young helper since he has been here.  Here's Easton drilling pilot holes in the picket fencing for around my garden.  Bailey won't leave the plants alone (especially the pepper plants) so Dad and Easton and John came up with this idea to keep her out.  Don't tell the state (or Easton's mother!) but Dad had Easton out working on the fencing until after dark last night.  They had to turn on the outside lights to see good enough to work!  He's a dang good helper tho!! We're loving having him around and not just for the extra work we're getting out of him! ;)

Cracking Eggs

Easton learned a new kitchen trick while at Grandma's house--he learned to crack eggs.  He did a really good job after the first egg.  The first egg that he cracked went all down the front of his shirt and down his arms and all over the floor.  It's nice to have kitchen help when dinner needs to be done!

Meeting Easton.......

Easton came to visit Grandma and Grandpa for a few weeks and we took him to meet Showa and Cowboy.  They like to eat apples so we cut them in half and let Easton feed them.  They LOVE him and wouldn't leave him alone.  Where Showa and Cowboy stay, there are 4 other horses.  Their names are Shiloh, Kitty, Mia, and Lady.  They flocked around him when they smelled the apples! Of course he shared some apples with them.  The two dogs in the pictures are Gus and Sage.  Gus is the yellow dog--he is VERY naughty! He chewed the entire front off his dog house!  The dogs LOVE apples too.  Easton couldn't feed them fast enough!!

We're Having a Baby!!!!!!!

We are excited to announce that we will be adding to our family! Showa is expecting a colt on March 18, 2011. Grandpa and I couldn't be more excited! The dark spot at the top of the ultrasound picture is where the baby lives in Showa's tummy. Start thinking of names because we will for sure have a naming contest when we finally get to meet the new baby in March.

Spring Lambs

One of the many reasons that I LOVE Spring......the baby animals are all soooooooo cute. These lambs are in the field across the street from my house. They are so stinkin cute and run around all day playing and causing trouble. Do you see the third sheep peeking around the momma and baby in the last picture?

Cowboy Dressed Up for his Debut with the Cows!

Uncle Jared has been teasing Grandma about her paint horse, Cowboy. He says that only Indians can own paint horses because they speak the same language as paint horses. He kept asking me what kind of Indian I spoke to Cowboy. So as a way to tease him back, I decided to paint a handprint on Cowboy's bum like the Indians used to do with horses. It was pretty funny to see the bright red handprint on him. Everyone that saw it laughed and thought it was great. Jared was only mildly amused by it. He's a tough egg! Anyway, thought you might enjoy seeing Cowboy and his first performance with the Ioka cows. Enjoy. PS The first picture is of Aunt Shaley on Cowboy. We took turns riding him over the couple of days that we were doing cows.

And the Winning Name is..............

Thanks for everyone's entries in naming Grandma's new horse. They were ALL good suggestions and it was tough to decide but the winning name has been chosen. The child that submitted it is...........EASTON!
Congratulations Easton!! Your prize is already in the mail and should arrive at your house this week. Everyone else, Thanks for sending in your choices--you made it hard to pick a name for Showa's new friend. There were several names that we really liked. But.....the winning name that Grandpa and I chose is.......COWBOY. It really fits him and all the ladies (the other horses that board with him at the Brough's) seem to like it. One girl horse named Shiloh has really taken to Cowboy and they love to spend time over the fence nibbling on each other. We took four horses for a trail ride on Saturday and we couldn't keep Shiloh and Cowboy apart. They wanted to ride behind or beside each other the whole afternoon. I think it might be because Shiloh is also a paint horse so they think they gotta stick together--the old saying about birds of a feather flock together fits these two! Anyway, thanks again for entering the contest and again meet Cowboy! Grandma sure is enjoying having him in the family!
PS. Uncle Jared is mad because he wanted to name his new colt Cowboy. You snooze, you loose around here! Sorry Jared!
