Vinyl Frame

Okay Ali, here is the pic of that way cute vinyl sign that Betty made and gave to me for Christmas. If you have questions, please let me know. I absolutely love that you can change out the center for different holidays/and or months. Guess they made them at Super Saturday this year. I didn't go cuz we were out of town for something. Anyway, super cute!

A Huge HoHo and his Reindeer

A man that lives close to Layton High School made these sculptures totally out of snow and used spray paint for the color. I thought my grandkids might like to see them before the sun melts his beautiful artwork away. Rudolph looks really good at night cuz his nose lights up but I couldn't get a good picture of him so here he is in the daylight. Some people just seem to get more than their share of talent!

The Weather Outside is FRIGHTFUL!!!

Here's a few pictures of our latest snowfall. We got about 10 inches on the East Bench. Some parts of Utah County got more than a foot. The mountains got anywhere from 24-36 inches. We are headed to Ioka around noon today so wish us luck as we tredge through all this new snow. John and Terry are out cleaning the snow at our house as I write. They may be out there for a very looooong time! The pictures are from the front door and back door. I'm not actually crazy enough to step out into the stuff!! Come on, a girl has to have standards! The roof line has so much snow from past storms that it is just kinda sliding off onto the deck out back. From the looks of things, we better grow dang big and beautiful flowers this spring with all this snow!

My New Treasure

So, this is my new super cute table lamp that Terry and I made from an old oil furnace that belonged to Terry's Grandpa Hall. We remodeled the bedroom upstairs and turned it into a TV/Reading room. I needed a small table to set beside the chair soooooooo.....this idea was born. I LOVE old things and like to try to find new purpose for them. Pretty cute, huh? We're pretty proud! Eat your heart out, Amber!
This old furnace was in an old shed full of stuff that belonged to Terry's grandparents. Dona Rae, Terry's mom, said we could have anything that we wanted in the shed. I took one look at this old furnace and immediately knew that it would make a cute lamp someday. We've had the furnace for about 3-4 years. Just needed a reason to get our creative juices flowing. We also took some old tools from the shed that I spray painted and now use them in John's bathroom for decoration. His bathroom is done in old tractors so the tools go nicely in there. I'm sure glad that someone held onto these few items so that I could have some cute old new stuff for my home! I won't tell ya about all the razzing I took from unmentioned family members for dragging home "junk". Bet they'd feel pretty bad if they could see how cute this dang lamp turned out. Not to mention that I have something of sentimental value from Grandpa Hall.

Man Tag--You're it!

Okay, so my darling youngest daughter tagged me on this Man Tag thing. I'm new to blogging so to set the record straight Amber, you're not playing nice to tag someone so new to the blogging world! I like to read posts and not actually have to do much otherwise. Okay, now that I chewed her out......here goes......

How long have the two of you known each other? 30 1/2 years. Glad I didn't know him in high school--don't think we would have thought much of each other!

Where did you meet? His version--we met the night of Prom at my uncle's Pizza/IceCream Parlor. He came in with some friends and I was working at the counter. I don't remember him-I do remember a bunch of guys coming in through the back door and harrassing me. My version--we met after a baseball game that I was at to watch my uncle play. They were on the same team and I thought the 3rd baseman was pretty hot. After the game, a mutual friend introduced us. Terry and my uncle were also in the same ward. I started attending church with my uncle STAT!! ;) ;)

How old is he? If I told you, it would be giving away a national secret!!! He's older than me.

Does he have a nickname for you? He has several but NONE of them are blog worthy or appropriate!

What's your favorite feature of his? I love his eyes--he has two different colors--VERY interesting.

Is he taller? Yep, by quite a bit!

Who can sing best? Neither one of us can sing or carry much of a tune!

Who is smarter? Definetely HIM. "He's my Jeremiah Johnson"--he knows TONS of stuff.

Who does laundry? ME--unfortunately--but he helps me when he's around.

Who pays bills? HIM--I hate that pressure.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? He does. Although, after 30 years of marriage we have swapped numerous times.

Who mows the lawn? Him. I don't push the mower--EVER!

Who cooks dinner? same answer as the laundry duty--I prefer to eat out!

What's your favorite thing to do as a couple? We enjoy a nice sit down dinner and a movie. We also like to just be together--running errands, painting, etc.

What is your favorite quality about him? His integrity--he's the MOST honest person I know!

What do you admire most about him? His commitment to our family, the gospel, and his personal responsibilities (whether work, church, family, or home). Also, he is not a lazy man--he's ALWAYS doing something--usually something from his honeydo list. The boy never sits still. I admire LOTS of things about him--he's dang near perfect!

Who is the first to admit their wrong? Usually him--but we rarely fight or disagree.

When and where was your first kiss? We had been dating for a month before he held my hand or kissed me--they happened on the same night. We were on a double date and in the backseat of my Toyota. My roommate was driving. Can't remember what the date had been. Only the kiss and the handholding. I was smitten at that point! Don' t ask why I wasn't driving my own car--I don't remember that either! I was only thinkin of him and lookin at him!

Who wears the pants? Technically he does, but we make most decisions together so we both sorta do. I'm glad I'm not the main pants wearer--I prefer knee shorts!!

Will he read this? Yep, he regularly checks the blogs of our kids and checks ours as well for comments from our kids.
I'm not tagging anyone since I don't read many posts but hey, if you want to brag on your man, GO FOR IT!! We'd all like to read what you write.

Happy Birthday Miss B!!!

Today is Brinkley's 8th Birthday. Man, where has the time gone? Brinkley is the oldest of our grandchildren. She will always hold a special place in our hearts as she made us Grandparents. She holds a VERY special place in my heart though that is different than any place that I have with the other grandkids. Not sure what it is, I like to think that we were friends in heaven, but all I know is that I truly fell in love with this child the VERY minute that I laid my eyes on her. I can't describe the feelings that I had that day--I just felt like I was finally reunited with a very close friend. I have always felt comfortable with Brinkley and continue to feel like we were, at one time, very close friends. (Maybe the sister that I was never blessed to have.) She is such a sweet, fun loving, and obedient little girl. She brings out the best in people and is a pure joy to be around. She doesn't mind getting dirty and yet, somehow can be "girly" too. (She seems very balanced to me!!) She loves to read and I enjoy reading with her. It thrills me that she enjoys reading and is always "up" to starting a new series of books with me. She is a great big sister and is always cheerful about helping around the house and with her sisters. She is a huge animal lover and that thrills me as well. (I'm a big animal lover too!) She is a pure delight and I can not imagine life without her. We love you, Brink. We are soooooooo proud of who and what you are. Keep smiling and being kind and loving to all that you know. Happy Birthday, angel.

My New Hair!

Have you ever had one of those days when you do something drastic without giving it a ton of thought? Well, I had one of those last week. I had a hair appointment and decided that morning that I was going to cut it short. I went to a new lady cuz my regular lady had moved to a salon in North Ogden--I was NOT driving to North Ogden to follow her just for a haircut. Soooooooo, went to the same salon but different lady. Anyway, I told her that I was thinkin about cutting it short and she didn't even hesitate or even try to talk me out of it. She went to work with a strange look on her face and kept cackling and was soon in a cutting frenzy! I have to admit that when she took the first snip out, I wanted to run from the chair and salon screaming. But since I had put my big girl panties on that morning, I stayed and let her do her thing. I didn't cry or even look in the mirror until she was done. This is the result. I got lots of compliments on it at church today. It's growing on me -- I'm starting to figure out how to do it. I love long hair cuz you can just pull it back and you're done. Not so with short hair. Terry likes it now -- it was an adjustment for the first few days. I'm startled everytime I look in the mirror. Can't believe that it's ME--I haven't had short hair for a very long time. Guess this is just one of my last rebellions of my forties!! By the way, this picture was taken after a 2 hour nap today. It usually is a little more puffy and less slept on! See Jared, there are NO dyke spikes!! I'm not THAT rebellious!
